Five-time CM and Akali architect Parkash Singh Badal has died at the age of 95!
Funeral updates for Parkash Singh Badal: The five-time Punjab Chief Minister and architect of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Prakash Singh Badal will be laid to rest in his home village this afternoon. People began to arrive in Badal village early this morning to pay their respects to him.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has proclaimed today a day of mourning. As a symbol of respect for the late governor, all state government offices, educational institutions, and banks will stay closed.
Chandigarh police issued a traffic advisory for heavy traffic anticipated at Akali Dal party headquarters in Sector 28 on Wednesday morning. People paid their respects to Badal’s remains. Last rituals scheduled on Thursday in Badal, Muktsar district. The last rituals of Badal will take place on Thursday in his ancestral hamlet of Badal, Muktsar district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Chandigarh on Wednesday and paid his respects to former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal. On Tuesday, Badal died in a private hospital in Mohali.

Parkash Singh Badal ruled Punjab politics for decades, enduring several storms.
He entered his political career at the age of 20 during the time of Indian independence. Over the course of seven decades, he watched the struggle for a Punjabi suba, the Green Revolution and the growth of Sikh militancy, farmer suffering, youth migration, drug trafficking, and so on.
During this time, he won multiple elections and served as chief minister five times. His accomplishments and mistakes altered the history of Punjab’s political and social life; the decisions he made shaped the state.
He was, however, no ordinary regional politician. Parkash Singh Badal transformed the Shiromani Akali Dal from a Panthic party to a Punjabiyat party. Badal was a national leader rather than a provincial politician.
Prakash Singh Badal was a great person and a great leader, May his soul rest in peace.
